Balmoral Lord

Balmoral Lord, an outstanding yellow dun stallion bred by the late Queen’s Highland Pony Stud at Balmoral, Scotland.  He is by Balmoral Lomond (Pictured with the late Queen and his son Balmoral Jubilee) and out of Balmoral Wren.

Balmoral Lord was sadly lost as a 4 year old to the horrible disease, grass sickness, a toxin that attacks their nervous system and eventually paralyses their gut.

In his short life, Balmoral Lord was successfully shown in hand winning his 3yo class and was junior male champion at The Royal Highland Show 2017.   He has also sired some beautiful foals including Balmoral Leia who was in hand Highland and Mountain and Moorland Champion at The Royal Windsor horse show in May 2022.  Lord’s semen was also collected as part of the National Gene Bank through the Rare Breeds Survival Trust.

Lochnagar Highland Pony Stud was extremely fortunate to obtain semen from Balmoral Lord and he has played a major role in their breeding program siring 3 colts and 3 fillies so far.
